Well, I am slowly getting to the final “personality” of the man’s head that I am carving for a keystone. The client wants a particular mood that is “regal”, “authoritative”, “classic”. He said the last photos were too placid and that he looked like a guy who just walked out of the woods of Minnesota. I am from Minnesota, so I guess that makes sense???
Anyway, he was too nice and friendly. I had to put a little angst in his face. It all had to do with the eyebrow shaping – amazing how some small cuts to make him look like he is scowling gives him a completely different mood. I kind of liked the “nice guy” look, but I think this is more what my client is looking for – I hope. We shall see…
Definitely “more angst.” Need more? Deepen the lines in the forehead (carefully).
It’s a fine looking face!
If I may suggest; you’ve got the mustache growing from the nostrils–a man’s mustache stops before going into the nostrils. I’ve spent a lifetime studying the human face and can give some pointers if you’d like.
Roy, Thanks for your input. I will work on adjusting that. My customer wants me to give it even more “angst”, so I will deepen the lines between the eyes and forehead.
…maybe he has really long nose hairs???
More angst to the face for more anxious times? I’ve always found it interesting to hear the story behind a piece; where will it be used, what inspired it, what, if any, message is it supposed to give.
Mark, take a look at my next post and it explains a little more about the story behind the face.
Thanks
