About the teacher
Angela
M. Walker is a third generation hand restoration weaver with over 30 years
experience. She is the owner of Aristocrat Antiques Cane Restoration in Charleston
SC.
She specializes in all types
of cane, rattan, rush and fabric weaving restoration. Angela also holds
degrees in archeology, fine arts, and fashion design, from Stephens
College, MO., and post-graduate work from Parsons in New York City. Some of her
restoration work can be found in Middleton Plantation, as well as many
private collections in the Low Country. You

About the class
Each student will have their own foot stool to work
on and take home as a
completed project.
This class will cover:
- various materials used in rush seating
- history and origins of rush
- the step by step process of applying rush seating
with the use of paper
twist rush
- discussion of the options for staining or coloring rush

- tool to wrap rush on, while passing it around spokes of stool
