Lie-Nielsen Toolworks will be having their open house this Friday and Saturday, July 12 & 13 in Warren, Maine. I will be demonstrating carving, sharpening, and whatever else people want to know.
What an incredibly beautiful area! I have never been to Maine before and I spent several hours driving down Highway 1 from Bangor to Warren that goes through some of the most idyllic fishing villages. I would love to spend more time here just being a tourist.
Next week I will be filming a Fundamentals of Carving DVD with Lie-Nielsen. This is going to be a very professional video. When I think about the carving videos I make with my camera propped on a tri-pod and just carve and ramble on as I carve – I am a little humbled. Well, these guys are extremely professional and the video is going to cover all the basics to get you started in carving – sharpening tools (of course) proper tool handling, how to safely hold your carvings, how to transfer your design to the wood, and how to carve a basic relief carving. I know I will learn a lot from their professional techniques of filming and video production.
Then the following weekend I will be teaching a basic carving workshop here at Lie-Nielsen.
It’s going to be a fun and challenging week. And what an amazing place to be! All the people at Lie-Nielsen have been great – they have made me feel so much at home.
Hope to see some of you this weekend!
I wouldn’t sell your rambling carving videos short… They’re pretty amazing and just what I need to learn from.
Thank you!
Thanks Jeremy!
I try to keep it real!
I am so disappointed that I couldn’t make it this year. Work prevailed…hope to catch you up North again.
