A great project. Are the oak leaves separate from the base, then connected later in the project? Is basswood too soft for this project?
Thank you. The background was lowered for this project, but can be done by cutting out the leaves and applying to a surface. Basswood would be a great wood for this project.
Hi Mary May, I have watched many of your videos and you are obviously a very talented wood carver. One thing that I have noticed about carving is that I can do a mediocre carving, but bringing it to the very good level is difficult. It involves paying attention to small details and very subtle curves. It would be helpful to me, if you could discuss these details more in your videos. You do this some already, but more discussion would be helpful. Anyway, thanks for your help. Paul
Hi Paul,
Thanks for your suggestion. I will make a point of focusing on this more in the lessons. It really ends up being a result of time with gouges in hand. The more you carve, the more natural it becomes to make that final surface.
