Hi Mary, I love watching you work and love carving but I never seem to get my gouges as sharp as yours, my whittling knives and chip knives are scary sharp but struggle with chisel and gouge. Any tips please?

Well, all I can suggest is that you go through those free video lessons on sharpening to review. Then make sure you have the correct sharpening equipment (a very, very fine stone for final honing is very important), and that you make sure you patiently complete each step. If all else fails, http://www.chippingaway.com has a sharpening service. They are in Canada, so shipping might be as much as buying a new chisel 🙂
