Recently completed angel carving from Mary's latest lesson out of basswood. One change I made was the horn. Cutout was cut without the horn. After carving I then glued precarved pieces of butternut into where the horn is with the grain lengthwise the length of the horn.
I am using it as a christmas tree topper.

Lovely! Yes, the horn was a bit of a challenge. Great idea to add a separate piece. I have heard someone also turned a horn on a lathe in harder wood.
