Carving the Acanthus Leaf - Mary's new book

PreviousPage 2 of 3Next

Thanks Michael! I'm still waiting on several boxes of books to arrive. I haven't even been able to hold my baby yet!

Hmmm... volume 2? Will have to recover from this one (and my husband missed me). But truthfully, I was contemplating what the next topic would be. Probably project oriented (boxes, shelves, etc), rather than only design oriented.

Enjoy!

Got my hands on the paper copy today...so much better than digital! Congrats on a well-written book Mary. I enjoy the stories embedded throughout the book as much as the history and teaching points. And since a physical book in hand is much better to me than my iPad, my evenings will be consumed again reading!

And isn’t writing books like potato chips? You can’t just eat, or write one.

Happily, I got my copy last night in the mail.  Spent half the evening looking through the pictures.  I am thrilled.  Mary, what a job you did.!

Thanks everyone! It is truly a humbling (and slightly mind-numbing) experience holding the book in my hands after all this time. For the past 3 years I have seen it and worked with it on screen, and yes... there is something about holding it and touching it that makes it so much more real. Lost Art Press also did an amazing job with the printing, cover, quality of paper, book binding, etc. I truly could not be happier with the finished book.

Guess what I got in the mail today!

Mary, you are a very good saleswoman!  I'm currently looking for work, and possibly moving.  Not much dough to spend on stuff.  But when an email says I have to buy your book by the next day, in order to get the PDF for free, I could not resist.

:))) Enjoy

Just got the latest News Letter from Lee Valley Tools and noticed Mary's book is available. Makes it easier for us Canadians. It's on my Christmas hint list. We'll see how it goes. I may have to buy one for my wife in case she decides to take up carving some day.

Great book, Mary!  I absolutely love the drawing techniques that are based on geometry.  For me, being more of a left brain person, freehand drawing and coming up with new designs has always been tough.  Finding these new tips was a nice surprise and a big help.

Tim, enjoy your Christmas present!

Raquel, so glad you are enjoying the book!

Merry Christmas and God Bless to everyone!

O Joy, am I spoiled or what.... thanks Santa Jim - wink wink ?
