I’ve just finished this carving and feel really chuffed that it came out well - rubbing it with beeswax really helps the colour of the wood come out.

That is just beautiful. I have only recently begin to explore relief carving and only imagine being able to produce artwork so beautiful. What wood did you choose for this piece. May I ask about how long will it take you to finish a piece of this detail. I have a hard time stopping when I begin but am learning to lay things down and back up taking time to relax the old eyes.
Love the detail. Beautiful

Thank you! This is Brazilian mahogany from a seller on ebay. It took a weekend about - but I do tend to take the carving with me when I'm away from the workbench say into the living room and prop it up somewhere so that I can critique it occasionally to see what else needs to be done to it. So the time varies!
Best regards,
Lucy

Thank you. It's interesting how during the pause and stepping back to examine everything how things take on a little different perspective, the shadows. I love the shadows.
