It's beautiful Mary. When you use the shallow gouges to form the curvature(up and down) how do you make a radius at the transition point? I am crazy about leaves and am trying to carve better leaves. Been looking at some pictures of Mark Yundt's as a guide but your videos are much more useful. Keep posting them, they are great.

Thanks Mike, I'm not sure what you mean by "transition point". The trick with this carving is make small cuts to create the shape - whether it is a curvature or hollow. Just take small cuts, and find the shape in a very methodical way - bit by bit. This is very similar to finding shapes in stone carving - the slower you can go with the shaping, the easier it is to discover curvatures. If you try to go too fast, the shape can be lost quickly.
The profile is very similar to the quarter round in the oak egg and dart video. When I get a chance, I'll put the measurements up. It is about half the size as the oak egg and dart - roughly.
A Handwritten Signature plaque carved for one's desk or wall... Not a Printed sign... a handwritten sign... carving going Over/Under as required to do it.
In sizes like aprox... 3" x 12" ... or 2" x 8", etc. Showing difficulties involved with small, medium, or larger projects. Tools required...
Also,
A Unicorn or Horse carved in a small area say 5" x 7"... Side view of Head or complete body. Tools required to it...

The Plans / Design of a Canvas / Denim rollup storage for Carving tools, and accessories... with dimensions... room for about 10 carving tools, etc.
Thanks Justin! At the moment I'm going to get a really good stock of woodcarving videos. I may consider some stone carving videos down the road, but the difficulty is you will be watching a video for 10 hours, and it will be good video to watch to solve any kind of insomnia. Not quite as "fast-paced" as wood carving.
Wow and Thank You! I was wondering why my poplar Moravain bench was ripping so much when trying to carve the top. I have only been wood carving for a year, but oil and water painting my entire life so I felt very comfortable with the artistic side of carving. Poplar is not my favorite wood to be carving in that's for sure! Thank you so much for your help Mary!
