"I like to do it the hard way" That sounds like one of my family members, including me. 🙂

Trust me, there are so many lines that would completely confuse the carving if they were all included. Less is better! At least from a visual.

I'm doing a carve along lesson, thank you. I love how linseed oil brings out basswood grain. I've. Used linseed prior to painting carvings as well as before applying polycrillic and it seems to work well. I haven't tried it before shellac though.

From what I understand about shellac (which is very limited), it can work with anything. Just make sure everything is completely dry so it doesn't interact with oils. Have fun!

I like the way you did the mouth - that turned out well. You did well in the time you had to work on it. it was hepful.

I enjoyed your livestream and also watching your video again today. Great job, well done and you do make it look so easy. I always wondered if you ever did carve the sailboat for your fireplace? Your carving is beautiful-well done. It is a pleasure watching you carve.

      Hi Sandi,
Thank you! No, this is the closest I got to the fireplace back. I'm actually considering doing this design for it, though. I like it better than just the side view.
