My son, Joshua, helped me this morning in getting most of the thickness of wood off the second shell. I think he has real potential of becoming a great carver and think he really enjoyed himself – in spite of the fact that his Labor Day was spent laboring.
Time is getting pretty tight for finishing both of the shells to have them shipped by the 13th. I will probably spend half a day just getting them boxed up and mailed.
Tomorrow I will get the concave sections cut, and maybe get as far as the center scroll design finished.
Not much more to say about this project – just a repeat of last week. I have used very few gouges for this entire project. I’ll photograph them tomorrow. I think I have only used 6 different gouges.
