Thanks! For the foreseeable future, this new music will be what is in the videos - until I feel like I need a change 🙂 I think nearly 3 years with the same piano music was enough...
You are totally right about willing to spend hours sharpening tools after getting a really sharp one. I nearly cried when I suddenly realized how dulled one of my gouges became and because of how expensive they are ($40 is expensive to me) I was worried about sharpening them. Thank you for the video!
FYI... The caption for this Intro clip refers to a Newport style finial, which was a previous lesson. Might want to update this caption to reflect the fireplace fan.
... George.
What would you use as a finish when the mold carving is completed?? Linseed oil, mineral oil? That wouldn't be toxic if you really used it to make cookies.
Great question! I am not sure what they traditionally used, but we simply used olive oil. And 6 months later, it still looks great! The olive oil with a little flour helped release the cookie dough also. I think the only issue might be if (or when) the oil goes rancid. I would assume a finish could be used that once dried does not give off toxins - shellac maybe? Maybe this question is best asked to a wood turner who makes bowls. What is their preferred oil or finish that is safe for using as a food dish? Anybody?
A wood bowl turner suggested olive oil to me and for the last few years I have used it on my wooden spoons, knife handles, bowls and now my cookie molds.
