Fonts for incised carving

My handwriting would embarrass a doctor, so rather than try and produce anything freehand, I'm looking to use computer fonts as the basis for carved signs.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a flowing, sans serif font which would also be straightforward to carve? I'm not looking to mimic handwriting, but would prefer something a bit more stylish than Comic Sans.

Hello Ian,

What I do when I search for font ideas is go through Microsoft Word and wander through their many fonts. I type about a 300 pt word, and then test some of the decorative lettering to see what makes sense. Be careful with copyright issues if you do this for anything commercially though. There are font hounds out there and they are very serious! Think of this suggestion as just getting ideas of fonts...
