• From Steve Cofield on Drawing an Acanthus Leaf

    Hi Mary
Really nice to see a video on the design aspect. This has helped me understand how the leaves flow which will assist me with carving a leaf. I'm looking forward to adding my own design to your templates and "making it my own." Being a rookie at carving, the more I learn on design, the better I will carve (thats my thinking anyhow). I am learning so much from this online class! Thank you for guiding me through this process I love so much!!!
    Steve

  • From Mary May on Starting to Carve

I have finally made a video on techniques of holding down wood securely, safely and without damaging the carvings. I hope to have this video on this up within the week.

    Thanks for your patience!

  • From Bob Easton on Starting to Carve

Starting at 1:59 in the video, we can see the workpiece pinched between two dogs (the white pins). The left one is in a vise jaw and is tightened against the right dog which is in the main body of the bench. The bench is Mary's high carving bench which is also shown in her recent workshop tour video.
