Hi Everyone I’m a new wood carver, I’ve done some simple lettering and a couple little practice items. This is my first major project, It’s a knot work wolf which has some personal significance for me. Its rather large on top of a gaming bookshelf called a Game Valet, which I built. The wood is cherry, aprox 24” x 12”. This was rather daunting but a really fun project, woodcarving has been a very exciting rabbit hole to get lost in.
I’m about to start a new even bigger project building a new front door for my house and I’m going to carve a large tree for it. the inspiration for which comes from http://mendocinodoors.com/ I’ll create another post and share the carving as I go through it this fall. Go big or go home right? Heh =)
Thanks Mary May for sharing your amazing skill.

This is coming along well. You have more nerve than I do. I would do the carving first and then build the cabinet just in case the carving doesn't go well. In fact I don't normally tell people what I'm working on so I don't have to answer questions about projects that have become firewood. It will be interesting to see this finished.

A very nice piece, Ricky. That looks like it opens up to become a desk of sorts, right? Lovely work, but that poor wolf is all tied up!

Nicely done. Those designs can tie your brain in knots. Congratulations and look forward to seeing more.

Knot a subject I would have thought of, but an intriguing one. Good for you for taking on a big challenge and doing it well.
