I have enjoyed looking at your fine gallery, and the story of how you became interested in carving.
I wonder whether you have read “The Lost Carving- A Journey to the Heart of Making” by David Esterly, which is in some ways a parallel story to your own career, and a fascinating mine of information to all who carve. Highly recommended, if you have not come across it!
You might also enjoy having a look at the Lancashire and Cheshire Woodcarvers website, with a gallery of our carvings, including some of my own.
Hi Richard,
I have that book by David Esterly and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. He’s not only an amazing carver, but he writes beautifully also. Many times throughout the book I said to myself “Yes… like he said”, but me not able to find the wonderfully descriptive words that he does.
Yes just reading Esterleys book engrossing ,not only about carving but life itself ,
A beautiful book.
