This is a brief introduction to "Carving a Celtic Clover Knot."
This 2 episode lesson shows how to carve a Celtic knot that resembles a four leaf clover. This a great lesson for understanding the importance of paying attention to grain direction, especially if you are carving in something less forgiving than basswood.

Episode 2….can’t wait!
Are you going to be posting up Episode 2 soon?
I add an episode each Wednesday night/Thursday morning. Patience, grasshopper… next week will be here soon!
I am brand new have not even held a chisel yet but I have ordered your starter set. I was wondering if you ever laminated wood together before you carve?
like in this project the bottom board could be walnut and the top board a lighter colored wood like your butternut?
Interesting idea. If you would do that, the celtic knot design (or butternut) could be cut out rather than the background lowered. Then this would be applied to a darker wood (as you mentioned walnut). The background would show up nicely. The work would end up being cutting the celtic knot on a scroll saw, but great idea!
